John Lewis Peterborough: Construction

Substantial regeneration

In 1978, two years after the first announcement, work was started on the Queensgate Centre and John Lewis Peterborough. As well as housing the Partnership’s latest department store and a Waitrose, Queensgate was set to hold over 80 other small retailers, and half a dozen large retail chains. With a new car park and brand new bus station also being installed, the Queensgate Centre was set to transform Peterborough. Once again, the Partnership was intricately involved with this substantial regeneration.
