Project Tardis

In 2012, the Partnership made a £7 million investment in the refurbishment of John Lewis Norwich. Named ‘Project Tardis’, the Partnership considered this investment well worth making. In the twenty or so years since the last refurbishment, back when the name Bonds was still above the door, the city of Norwich had changed. Now one of the top ten shopping destinations in the UK with the perfect customer base for John Lewis, it was the perfect time to bring the branch into the 21st Century.

Project Tardis created 12,000 additional square foot of selling space, re-balancing the interior to create a more airy less congested shop floor helped by the removal of walls and opening up of windows. The branch also introduced new brands and gave more space to the Beauty department. The refurbishment certainly proved itself quickly with a 4.3% increase in sales seen in the 6 months after the refurbishment.
