John Lewis Partnership Gazette

Paula Nickolds joined the Partnership as a Graduate trainee at Oxford Street in 1994. After working as a Buyer for Childrenswear and Furniture she moved to Head of Buying Furniture; Head of Product Development; Buying Director Home; Buying and Brand Director and Commercial Director before taking up her role in January 2017.

Making headlines in the national press for being one of the few women to take on this top role within John Lewis, Paula had previously had the unenviable task of leading the Home Directorate through the recession. The new format Home shops were introduced under her leadership and her continuing support for British design and innovation is something which helped steer the home assortment of the John Lewis business through tough trading times.

A firm believer in the Partnership’s co-owned business model Paula also realises the value of the Partnership’s long history. Identifying the patterns between things, events and people enhances the way she looks at her role and helps her plan for the long term.
