50 Golden Years of the Trewins Garden Society. 1959 -1999

The origins of the Garden Society.
The Gazette. 5th.June 1999.

Dorothy Glasspole founded the Garden Society at Trewins nearly 60 years ago.  She once told me she had organised a trip to Ireland to visit gardens.  Do you remember this?  Did you go and if so have you any photographs?  If you can help I would love to share your memories.  Can you help with any other events the Garden Society undertook or indeed the social life of the branch?   Please contact me diane_wise@johnlewis.co.uk or 01923 479572 I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Marjorie Hutchinson (my Grandmother) was a member of the garden society.  I used to go on many of the trips when I was small, as a sort of mascot.  Sadly, Marjorie passed away last month and that’s how I came across this site.

I am compiling a book and would be glad of any stories anyone could share about her.  I know she had a great time at Trewins and had many friends.  Please feel free to get in touch.
    Take care all.
