1976 was the hottest summer on record and famously refered to as ‘the year of the drought’. Trewins, having no air conditioning at the time was always very hot, hence this Branch Council resolution was passed to the Chairman.

In the same edition of the Chronicle, a poem regarding ‘jackets off’ and ‘tights off’ which only happened when the temperature on the roof was at a certain number of degrees.
