The Grand opening of John Lewis Leicester
Brilliantly breathtaking branch
John Lewis Leicester finally opened its doors to customers on the 4th September 2008. The opening signalled not only the latest and probably most breathtaking branch yet, but it also started an exciting new adventure for the people of Leicester, and capped off nicely the city’s £3 billion investment. The photo below shows the extent of customer queues just prior to opening. Despite the fact that many were unfamiliar with John Lewis, there is no doubt that the store was quickly taken to customer’s hearts.
Brand new concepts
Aside from employing the traditional box model for the building of the store, everything else including fixtures and fittings, were brand new brand new concepts for a John Lewis department store. This ultra-modern approach fitted in perfectly with the wider renovation of Leicester. The Partnership’s role in securing and shaping the city’s future cannot be understated, and in its six years of trading, the store has continued to lead the way in innovative, modern retailing.

Does anyone know the name of the company that designed and produced the wonderful curved display units?. My son has just graduated with a degree in product design and would be very interested to make contact with the company. Thankyou Lorraine Hulman
