JL At Home Ashford announced

The building of the John Lewis At Home in Ashford was announced in the Gazette of 19th April 2013. The £7 million project was the division’s tenth smaller format shop, and was due for completion by the end of the year. It was to be located on a site close to junction 9 of the M20 in Kent, and joined Waitrose, which had been there since 2010. The announcement was not only a breakthrough for the Partnership, who had been looking to further their influence in the area for a number of years, but it was also an important moment for the town of Ashford. As Acting Leader of Ashford Borough Council Cllr. Gerry Clarkson made clear, John Lewis was ‘exactly the type of company that the town wished to attract’.

Construction

By August 2013, foundations had already been laid, and the erection of the shop’s steel frame had been both quick and incident free as a result. The Partnership’s latest At Home store was well on target for its projected opening date of November 2013.
