JL Aberdeen welcomes a new department

One lucky fitted kitchen plays host to Howard Fisher DM, Emma Bruce Kitchen Planner, and Duncan Leece SM

Throwing the kitchen sink at it

At the beginning of 1997, ‘John Lewis Aberdeen’ was the beneficiary of a brand new kitchens department, which opened a couple of weeks before Christmas. 13 fitted kitchens went on display, and the department also boasted a tile, sink and tap bar. The kitchens on display were highly modern, and were of trademark Partnership quality. This was as a result of some extensive research. Howard Fisher, Department Manager Electrical and Fitted Kitchens, not only attended many a fitted kitchens conference at Odney, but he also benefited immensely from visiting a supplier, seeing Taylor and Penton, and spending considerable time in the fitted kitchens department at John Lewis Brent Cross. Experienced Partners in fitted kitchens from John Lewis Edinburgh were also kind enough to lend a hand in the first couple of weeks when the department was still in its infancy.

Soon however, the department was doing roaring trade. Customers now had yet more reason to shop at the new store, and it was clear that the new department would make early successes a habit.
