Gala Day

Each year the Partnership organised a huge social event.  A mixture of county show, fun fair and It’s A Knockout.  It was originally held at the Odney Club near Maidenhead but as the Partnership grew it was moved, initially to Knebworth Park and then Wellington Park in Surrey.

A cross between icebergs and iced buns
Each branch sent a team to participate in the series of games and also to try to win the cup for the best fancy dress.  In 1987 Trewins were one of the 72 teams who took part watched by around 8,000 Partners, family and friends.  The theme for the year’s show was Myths and Legends.  The Watford entry was very imaginative.  The young team looked like a cross between icebergs and iced buns – perhaps not quite the business dress they were used to wearing!
