As today, Partners have always been made aware of the escape routes from their department. This was to ensure their safety as well as that of the customer.

  • Re Jo’s comment. There was a walkway across the roof which led to an iron staircase down to ground level at the rear of the shop. There were landings on the way down where fire exits from other floors joined the staircase.
