Mobile racking was introduced into the kitchenware department as a space saving measure. Space was always at a premium. This was seen as the way forward to save it. It did of course prove difficult sometimes. Maybe someone else was in there when you decided to go to a different location. We always had to shout before moving the racking.

I worked in this department when I was 18 hours of fun could be had by squashing your colleagues in this contraption!! I also remember the paint mixing machine round the other side of the dept !
