Auburn Ltd (later Taylor and Penton)

Established in 1934

Auburn Ltd was a hat and millinery factory, established by the Partnership in 1934, after the acquisition of premises in Luton, originally belonging to a company called J and B Ferrars. The factory was originally situated at no.9 Clarendon Street, Luton. By August 1935, the name had been changed from Auburn Ltd to Taylor and Penton, and by 1939 expansion of the factory had resulted in the takeover of 50 Guildford Street, Luton.

It appears that during these years, in around 1937, a belt factory was started, and two years later an experimental leather work factory joined the operation.

Closure

In 1953, changes in fashion and trade had resulted in heavily losses. As a result, the Luton factories were subsequently sold by the Partnership
