Biggest branch in Scotland

John Lewis Glasgow opened its doors to the public for the very first time on the 7th April 1999. Some Glaswegian’s had been waiting eagerly for the best part of a decade for the day to come. And when it did, they were not disappointed. Thousands showed up to show their appreciation, and to sample the many delights that the biggest branch in Scotland had to offer. As with most openings, particularly popular with customers was the Place To Eat restaurant, as was the horseshoe shaped coffee shop found on the second floor. With over 2 million people in the theoretical catchment area of the store at under an hour’s drive away, there was certain to always be mouths to feed, as customers fuelled themselves before or after travelling.

Perfect place to prosper

The branch was located in an ideal place to prosper from the outset. Wonderfully placed between two of Glasgow’s traditionally busiest shopping streets, Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street, railway, bus and underground stations were all in walking distance.

I notice that the restaurant on the second floor has closed a couple of weeks ago, my favourite place to eat, in particular the cake selection, who or what is going into this site, I have had to move to your other eating place but the second floor was my choice.

Dear Mr Stuart, Thank you for contacting us regarding the closure of the Coffee Shop in Glasgow. I am sorry that you were disappointed by its current closure. The John Lewis Coffee Shop will reopen in early October as "Benugo" cafe at John Lewis Glasgow. It is currently being totally refurbished and we will be excited to unveil it in a few weeks time. I look forward to welcoming you back.
