The Grand Opening of John Lewis Trafford

The Gazette of the 4th June 2005 celebrates the opening of John Lewis Trafford
John Lewis Trafford inundated with happy customers

Innovative and unique

On the 30th May 2005, ‘John Lewis Trafford’ opened its doors to customers. Trafford was an extra special branch, an innovative and unique outfit that set the standard for future projects. And customers were certainly in the mood to spend from the off. Some of the biggest sales on the first day included a £1000 and a £800 sale of bedroom furniture, a £499 Bugaboo pushchair and a £2,500 Plasma TV!

Excellently executed

Although the shop was smaller than most John Lewis stores, space was utilised to its upmost potential. The two selling floors that made up the shop were each split into three rooms with the use of partition walling, allowing each room to possess its own identity. These new space solutions allowed the shop to feel open and airy rather than cluttered. John Lewis Trafford was a culmination of a wonderful concept that had been excellently executed. Clearly, this was a winning formula that could be repeated in suitable locations in future years.
