The Grand Opening of John Lewis At Home Poole

One day wonders

‘John Lewis At Home Poole’ was opened on time to much customer excitement and acclaim. Many queued for over an hour to get in, and more than 9,000 customers passed through the door on the first day. The branch had to extend its opening hours for customers reluctant to leave, and sales were 65% above budget! The pictures below provide an incite of what the opening day was like. Since opening

As the original pilot shop for the ‘At Home’ format, customer experience and feedback from shopping at Poole was essential for determining how the new format would develop in subsequent projects. For example, when the second ‘At Home’ shop was constructed and opened in Croydon in 2010, customer feedback from Poole helped shape the cafe to make it more customer friendly. This information has since proved vital and has allowed the At Home branches to adapt as necessary. Significantly, it was through this tweaking that enabled the development of the flexible format stores, which paved the way for the successful opening of John Lewis Exeter. This flexible format is the future of the Partnership, which again highlights just how important the initial opening at Poole really was.
