Service buildings

The service buildings were absolutely vital to a successful department store. On the face of it, they provided the shop floors across the Partnership with all the additional stock required to cater for customer demand. But in reality, service buildings and those who worked in them offered so much more, their contribution to the John Lewis division cannot be understated.
